Preferred transportation recommendation
The easiest way to reach Hangzhou is to fly into Beijing or Hong Kong international airports, then take a connecting flight to Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport. You may also reach Hangzhou by flying into Shanghai Airport however there are no connecting flights to Hangzhou and there are some challenges to taking the high speed train, see below, From Shanghai Airport.
From Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport to Hyatt Regency Hangzhou
Best is to take a taxi. Be prepared to pay cash. The taxi station for airport passengers is outside Gate 4 and Gate 10 of domestic arrival. Cost is about CNY130. If you prefer a luxury taxi please call the Hyatt Regency for more information however prices are much higher.
From Hangzhou East Station or Hangzhou Station (high speed train stations)
Most of the highspeed trains from Shanghai will arrive at Hangzhou East Station or Hangzhou Station. The cost of a taxi from Hangzhou East Station to Hyatt Regency is about CNY30. If the train arrives at Hangzhou Station, the cost of a taxi is about CNY20. Taxi stations are available however lines maybe long. If you prefer a luxury taxi please call the Hyatt Regency for more information however prices are much higher.
From Shanghai Airport
There is no flight between Shanghai Airport and Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, therefore you must take a train or a coach to Hanghzou.
If you would like to take a highspeed train, you will need to take a taxi to Hongqiao Train Station. Besides the signs being written in Chinese characters, the challenge is if you can find an agency to buy the train ticket for you. Foreigners will not able to buy train tickets through the offical website, and if you cannot find an agency, you will have to buy the ticket at the train station. Another option is to take the coach from PVG to Hangzhou Civil Aviation Ticket Office. It will takes about 3 hours, almost every hour there is a coach to Hangzhou started from 8:40. After arrived at Hangzhou, you can take a taxi to Hyatt, costs about CNY 20. Please check the Shanghai Airport website for more transportation information.

Taking a taxi around town is the best way to get around Hangzhou. It is recommended to ask your hotel to provide your destination and return addresses written in Chinese characters since many drivers do not speak or read English. Here is the address in Chinese of the Hyatt Regency Hangzhou.
Although there are taxi stands on the main roads, they are not very efficient. It is easier to hail a taxi from where you are. See the Hangzhou taxi guide here. Hangzhou Taxi is +86 571 28811111. The person answering the phone speaks English, but not all taxi drivers do. Be sure to have your destination addresses in written form.
Tipping is not an established practice in China. You are not expected to tip anyone including taxi drivers, waiters/waitresses or hair stylists.
