Preferred transportation recommendation
The easiest way to reach Hangzhou is to fly into Beijing or Hong Kong international airports, then take a connecting flight to Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport. You may also reach Hangzhou by flying into Shanghai Airport however there are no connecting flights to Hangzhou and there are some challenges to taking the high speed train, see below, From Shanghai Airport.
From Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport to Hyatt Regency Hangzhou
Best is to take a taxi. Be prepared to pay cash. The taxi station for airport passengers is outside Gate 4 and Gate 10 of domestic arrival. Cost is about CNY130. If you prefer a luxury taxi please call the Hyatt Regency for more information however prices are much higher.
From Hangzhou East Station or Hangzhou Station (high speed train stations)
Most of the highspeed trains from Shanghai will arrive at Hangzhou East Station or Hangzhou Station. The cost of a taxi from Hangzhou East Station to Hyatt Regency is about CNY30. If the train arrives at Hangzhou Station, the cost of a taxi is about CNY20. Taxi stations are available however lines maybe long. If you prefer a luxury taxi please call the Hyatt Regency for more information however prices are much higher.
From Shanghai Airport
There is no flight between Shanghai Airport and Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, therefore you must take one of the 3 modes of transportation below, according to your location, budget, comfort level and time constraints:
This is the cheapest, safest and most comfortable way to travel to Hangzhou from Shanghai. There are more than 100 high speed trains commuting between Shanghai and Hangzhou every 24 hours. It is a 2-hour journey for about 80RMB (13USD) one way. Trains run every 30 minutes (at least in peak hours) from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station (the one next to SHA Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport). If you arrived at PVG Shanghai Pudong International Airport, you will need to take either Shanghai Metro Line 2 or a taxi to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station. When buying the ticket, make sure you choose the train start with “G” or “D”. After arrived at Hangzhou, you will need to take a taxi to the hotel. Taxis are available outside the train station. Please follow the directional sign to the taxi station. Or if you prefer, contact Hyatt Regency for car service reservations.
If you are leaving from Shanghai Pudong International Airport, the easiest way to get to Hangzhou is by taking a long distance Airport Bus. You can find the bus on the first level of the departure hall. The ticket price is RMB110 (USD18) for one way. It takes about 3 hours depends on the traffic. It leaves in about every one hour starting from 8:40 to 21:00. For more information, please check the following website. After arrived at Hangzhou, you will need to take a taxi to the hotel.
Hyatt Regency Hangzhou provides the limousine service. This is the most expensive way to travel to Hangzhou. The price is RMB2600 (USD415) for one way from Shanghai Pudong International Airport, and RMB2400 (USD385) for one way from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. If you need the service, please contact Chen Zhao from GS1 China at email@example.com or contact the Hyatt Regency directly.

Taking a taxi around town is the best way to get around Hangzhou. It is recommended to ask your hotel to provide your destination and return addresses written in Chinese characters since many drivers do not speak or read English. Here is the address in Chinese of the Hyatt Regency Hangzhou.
Although there are taxi stands on the main roads, they are not very efficient. It is easier to hail a taxi from where you are. See the Hangzhou taxi guide here. Hangzhou Taxi is +86 571 28811111. The person answering the phone speaks English, but not all taxi drivers do. Be sure to have your destination addresses in written form.
Tipping is not an established practice in China. You are not expected to tip anyone including taxi drivers, waiters/waitresses or hair stylists.
